Context and Objective

Governments are advocating the transition to a more sustainable use of natural resources. It is necessary to have clear strategies to handle products and the resources that comprise them, at the product’s end of life. Remanufacture is the focus of this particular project. It is motivated by the fact that Europe only remanufactures 2% of products today, yet it can be increased significantly in the near future. A future scenario foresees the potential to triple the volume of remanufacturing in Europe until 2030 up to about 100 billion euros and half a million jobs, according to the ERN (European Network of Remanufacturing). To make that increase possible, the competence of companies need to be developed, particularly small to medium sized manufacturing firms.

This project is about developing learning material package to support companies in learning how to develop their remanufacturing business. The education materials are practically evaluated and elaborated by organizing 10 workshops for companies in five countries. The target includes Industry, SMEs, consumers, consultants, entrepreneurs, universities.
