Environmentally sustainable production systems

Expertsare are now unanimous in recognising the one hand the influence of our production on the degradation of our environment, and on the other hand the finiteness of natural raw materials. These two challenges require invention of new industrial organisations to produce in a sustainable way.

Essential items for new production systems:

  • Better management of resources that are finite
  • End of cheap energy and mandatory reduction of CO2 emissions
  • Important qualitative pressure of each client, in addition to a strong societal expectations of  his own products
  • None or few and regulated pollutant emissions and hazardous substances
    The laboratory specialises on methods and tools for design, optimisation and management products and production systems in order to invent products and industrial organisations with a strong environmental potential.

Three complementary concepts:

  • The products and eco-designed systems  in order to invent methods and associated tools, assessment, decision support and control based on environmental objectives consistent with accepted economic and social performance. The nature of environmental performance requires the need torethink the nature of models and decision taking.
  • Services in excess of the products. Industrial transformation is necessary go to sell a product to provide a service called organiations and different skills and questioning business models and value.
  • Re-use to invent mechanisms for recycling the most efficient ones, allowing us to better manage the added value and flows induced by"increasing" border referral systems. The concept of end use, un-fabrication/re-fabrication is essential.

Two complementary levels:

  • Think of the new organisations of production systems architectures and products for breakkhrough innovations. These methods consider concepts.
  • Optimise existing products and systems for enhanced environmental value to incremental innovation. These are methods of redesign and optimisation.

G-SCOP Strengths

Special expertise on each of the stakeholders of a production system and life situations: expertise on products and their design, productionmanagement, the optimisation of logistics and the organisation of production systems, lead to a comprehensive, complete and accurate processes

Expertise in the design, optimisation and management systems that can treat the problem with innovation systems. It is  only level that will consider the technological breakthroughs necessary organisational and environmental gains that can is entitled to expect.

Expertise in the conduct of multidisciplinary research, both inside the laboratory with researchers in automatic SED, mechanical engineering and operations research that are based on approaches that include extensive use of modeling, but also with researchers in humanities and social sciences on industrial organization, management and human behavior.
