Systemic Design: human, environment, technologies (COSYS)
COSYS is a multidisciplinary research team dedicated to exploring topics related to sustainability and design, with a focus on the user at the heart of these research areas. Its work encompasses themes such as the circular economy, sustainable product and service design, eco-design, user-centred design and personalisation. The team aims to mobilise technologies and rethink organisations to serve people and the environment.
While COSYS recognises the importance of sustainability in the face of future challenges, the team is focused on advancing research in the fields of Industrial Engineering and Systems Engineering. They aim to develop new design approaches based on life cycle thinking and seek to give humans an efficient place in product and service development processes. These developments contribute to reducing environmental impacts, promoting responsible consumption, encouraging sustainable production methods, while considering cutting-edge socio-technical systems and mobilising innovative technologies.
Research topics
The creation of new approaches in systemic design contributes to:
- Systems engineering for sustainability: urban factories, Life Cycle Analysis-based management, planetary boundaries, etc.
- Customised design and ergonomics of working environments: personalised workstations, remanufacturing, innovative technologies, etc.
- Information systems and data processing for circularity: impact assessment in relation to planetary boundaries, regeneration, Digital Product Passports (DPP), etc.

The seminars of the team
The team organises seminars every Tuesday from 3.00 PM to 4.00 PM. These seminars are opportunities for team members to exchange and share ideas, and to present the progress of projects, theses or internships. Occasionally, external invited researchers present their research work. This activity contributes to the development of a common glossary, enabling the sharing of concepts and related references used by the CoSys team.PhDs and HDRs
