G.EN.ESI

Green ENgineering dESIgn

Project objectives

Develop a methodology and a software platform to support eco-design of industrial products.

  • Solutions for a better integration of eco-design and life cycle thinking in companies
  • Solutions for reducing environmental impacts of mechatronic products
  • Integration of environmental data and expertise in traditional design tools (CAD and PLM systems)

Project Leaders
: Peggy ZWOLINSKI, Maud DUFRENE, Emmanuelle COR

Duration: 02.2012 - 01.2015

Partnerships:

The G.EN.ESI project is co-financed by the European Commission and made possible within the VII Framework Programme FP7-NMP-201 l-SMALL-5 - Grant Agreement Number 280371

Methods

  • State of the art of ecodesign methods, tools, and standards
  • Identification of key elements and steps for the methodology
  • Definition of the structure of the support platform
  • Software development of the platform
  • Tests and feedbacks on the implementation of the methodology and the platform in company

Results

The G.EN.ESI project developed:

  • A methodology in 6 steps supporting the integration of environmental design activities and management within existing design and engineering departments.
  • A software platform which provides streamlined environmental assessment and support eco-design decision
