IDCyclUM

Design and Integration Methodology for Sustainable Innovation with Multiple Upgrade Cycles

Objectives

This research programs claims the necessity of a new sort of « evolutionary products » (IDCyclUM), able to adapt themselves gradually to the future users requirements. The aim of this research is to improve the environmental performances of products during their life cycle and avoid accelerated obsolescence.

  • Development of a methodology for the planning of upgrades in the design process
  • Demonstrate the environmental interest of IDCyclUM

G-SCOP Project leader: Peggy ZWOLINSKI

Methods

  • Development of a new business model where services are sold with the product
  • Development of methodological elements for the planification of upgrades during the design process
  • Study of the use phase to reach an environmental performance in use

Results

  • A design methodology for IDCYclUMS
  • Formalization of design tools for the selection of upgrades and for a multicriteria evaluation (feasibility, environmental performances…
