Recycling and ecodesign of Li-Ion Batteries Cores

Problematic

  • Ensure lithium supply security in the future.
  • Absence of lithium batteries recycling network.
  • Trouble to recycle/remanufacture batteries in an « ecological » way

Research process

  • Development of a LCA model for eco-design of Li-ion batteries
  • Study case of LFP batteries presented to CEA experts
  • Modify this model after interviewing the industrials (designers, recyclers, etc.)

Objective: highlight the hotspots found along their industrial activities

Expected Results

  • Create an eco-design tool for Li-ion batteries, adapted to industrial usage
  • Help to create the Li-ion recyling network in France
