Teaching themes
- Product design methodologies and processes: needs analysis, conceptual design, embodiment design, prototyping
- Mechanical design: technical drawing, kinematics, tolerancing, power transmission
- Computer-aided design (CAD) and technical representation
- Manufacturing and design-related processes
Research areas
- User-centred design methodology, integrating human activity as a design criterion in its own right from the early stages of the design process
- Design and development of immersive environments (virtual reality, motion capture) for ergonomic analysis and collaborative co-design between operators, avatars and virtual systems
- Universal and inclusive design: modelling user variability (anthropometric characteristics, motor or sensory limitations) and developing tools for rehabilitation and support of vulnerable populations
- Design of sustainable, user-centred industrial systems, in particular within the circular economy
Key words
- User-Centred Design
- Virtual Reality for Industry: Immersive Co-Design
- Ergonomics: Motion Capture & Physiological Measurement
- Universal & Inclusive Design
- Sustainable Industrial Systems: Circular Economy
