Abstract
Emerging technologies developed by Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) are increasingly integrated in new industrial products, which raises the question of their environmental impacts. This research investigates systemic integration of environmental considerations in the development of emerging technologies in RTOs. Using a deductive approach, it develops propositions that were tested at CEA RTO. Three propositions were built: i) a literature-based list of 20 actions supporting integrated design of emerging technologies by researchers, ii) an upgraded creativity process to steer environmentally-driven innovation, iii) a structure for the deployment of an eco-innovation transversal network of dedicated actors in RTOs. The implementation of these proposals highlighted a greater integration of environmental considerations in the design of emerging technologies.
